Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger Isolated 12/12-18A (220W)

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart is a professional DC-DC adaptive 3-stage battery charger with built-in Bluetooth, designed for dual battery systems in vehicles and vessels. Where the standard Orion-Tr is a DC-DC converter, the Orion-Tr Smart is a true battery charger — it applies a proper bulk, absorption, and float charge algorithm to correctly and safely charge the service battery from the starter battery and alternator, protecting battery health and maximising charge acceptance for both lead-acid and lithium battery types.

This model has 12V input, 12V output, and a max current rating of 18A.  Isolated.

These models offer integrated Bluetooth, allowing the unit to be fully monitored, configured, and updated via the free VictronConnect app on any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet. Charge status, history, and real-time performance data are all accessible wirelessly without any additional hardware.

The remote on/off terminal allows the unit to be controlled by an ignition signal, battery management system, or external switch. An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel to increase total charging current. All models are fully short-circuit proof with built-in high-temperature protection, and are rated for full output up to 40°C with operation to 55°C. IP43 protection applies when installed with terminals oriented downward.

Isolated vs. Non-Isolated: The isolated version provides galvanic separation between input and output, making it suitable for any installation regardless of grounding topology, and required where the two battery systems do not share a common negative ground.

The non-isolated version is appropriate where input and output share a common negative.   Both versions deliver identical charging functionality and Bluetooth features.
